CLOSE T0 YOU

CLOSE TO YOU

The hawthorn that flourished round the lilac tree.....
Mine?

The swallow that returned for the Summer's spell.....
Mine!

The blackbird that warbled on a thorny hedge.....
Mm...ine!

The pheasant that lamented  for the loss of his mate.....
Mm...i...ne?

The moonlight that burnished a charcoal grey roof.....
Mm...mm...ine!

The north wind that blistered an old worn out song.....
Mm...in...e?

The field mouse that moved in to make babies and eat....
M...m...mine!

The north star that burgled the ink from the night....
MINE!

The arrogance of wanting it to be just for....
Mine...mine...MINE!

Why do the robin and wren guest in your garden....?
Do they long to be close to YOU....?
Or the worm....in the apple!

A little blast from the past. The Carpenters performing Burt Bacharach's Close To You
