SHABBY DRESS

SHABBY DRESS

Death is an adventure
And I'm not brave enough,
You lie there....my age
With two days only left to breathe.
Around the sun 60 times
One week ago: your last Party.
I flew and we hugged;
Our eyes searching for the
Little girls again....nine days apart.
I knew and you knew
In that crowd of unknowing.
Shared discoveries of first pubic hairs;
The 'grown up' pride of our first tiny bras;
And regret wells up over wasted time.
Skinny again Janet
And I the chubby one.
Shabby dress can be replaced....
Death is an adventure
And you are the braver.
